Re: Year 2000
Readiness of
STUDENT/3000
Date: July 29, 1999
This memo serves as the official position by QSS on STUDENT/3000 and its
readiness for operation in the year 2000.
- STUDENT/3000 version D5 has been designed/architected in
such a way that it will operate correctly with any date in
this century and the next. Databases have been redesigned to
store dates in CCYYMMDD format and date check algorithms
have been written to operate on 8 digit dates.
- Data entry screens continue to use 6 digits dates for
input with the dates being converted to 8 digit format for
storage in the database. Reports continue to report dates in
6 digit date format with the proper conversion being done
from the 8 digit database format to the 6 digit report
format. All date comparisons operate internally using the 8
digit date format.
- Support for STUDENT/3000 version D5 will be handled in the
same manner as existing QSS support. Customers who have a
paid up QSS support contract may report
software problems with STUDENT/3000 under the terms of the
contract. QSS will provide software updates
per the support contract. No fixes to STUDENT/3000 will be
provided to customers who do not have a valid, paid-up QSS support contract.
