Re: Year 2000
Readiness of QSS/OASIS (Version H)
Date: October 5, 1998
This memo serves as the official position by QSS on Version H and its readiness
for operation in the year 2000.
- Version H has been designed/architected in such a way that
it will operate correctly with any date in this century and
the next. Databases have been redesigned to store dates in
CCYYMMDD format and date check algorithms have been written
to operate on 8 digit dates.
- Data entry screens may use 6 digit or 8 digit dates for
input depending upon the specific software module. In the
case of 6 digit date entry the dates are converted to 8
digit format before storage in the database. In the case of
8 digit date entry the dates may be entered using 6 digit or
8 digit dates and the date is converted and re-displayed on
the screen as an 8 digit date.
- Support for Version H will be handled in the same manner
as existing QSS
support. Customers who have a paid up QSS support contract may report
software problems with Version H under the terms of the
contract. QSS will
provide software updates per the support contract. No fixes
to Version H will be provided to customers who do not hold a
valid, paid-up QSS
support contract.
